Update: Hurricane Relief 9/3

2017-09-03 09.17.46

What an amazing day it has been full of sacrifice and the Spirit. The Helping Hands crews started with a sacrament meeting at 8am filling the cultural hall.  We estimated 350-400 men, women and youth joined our 25 Helping Hands teams! Our deepest appreciation for the tremendous sacrifices and love that you have shown forth as we have extended a hand of support to those whose homes have been impacted by the flood.

For Monday 9/4:

Tomorrow we will be continuing with flood relief opportunities to assist homeowners here within our stake boundaries. We recognize that many of you have now been mucking and gutting houses for 2 to 4 straight days. So tomorrow each of you has three options: first you can take a rest day if you need one; second, you can work a half day. Or third you can work a full day. Please talk to your crew leader tonight by 9:00pm and let him know your availability.

We will be meeting at the Katy Stake Center tomorrow at 8 AM to get started. For those who have not yet served but would like to do so tomorrow, please contact your elders quorum president or high priest group leader, who can put you in touch with a crew chief in your ward.

If you are coming out to work again tomorrow, please remember to bring with you your safety mask, gloves and any equipment from home that you may have that would help with the flood relief. The stake will supplement safety items like goggles, masks and gloves with what we have on hand.

Capturing Experiences & Pictures

We would love to have pictures and experiences documented as we provide relief work. We truly are seeing the hand of the Lord in so many ways and want to capture these experiences. Please email Heather Turner at hlauturner@gmail.com with any experiences and pictures or drop pictures into this shared folder link: Harvey Relief Pictures
